King and THU are teaming up in a collaborative effort to connect experienced industry professionals to act as mentors to those who are looking for their first job in the industry! We’re ready to accelerate your learning and foster your professional development by leveling up your skills and offering a deeper understanding of the gaming landscape. 

DESCRIPTION

The program features customized mentorships, and career and games masterclasses, starting in June 2024 for a duration of 12 months. It also grants mentees direct access to the next online THU Career Camp 2025 event. Some mentees will also be eligible for an all-expenses paid ticket to THU Main Event 2024!

THU & King's Mentorship Program - Representing Inclusion in Gaming aims to:

• Celebrate inclusion and representation by actively inviting people from diverse backgrounds to participate;
• Foster a supportive environment where people with different skills, and experiences can learn and advance their careers.

REQUIREMENTS

The candidates must:

• Be over 18 years of age at the time of the application.
• Be a legal resident in Spain (proof of residency might be required).
• Have just finished their studies (or are currently enrolled in the final year of studies) or be on a career-change path, looking for a first opportunity in the games industry (age is not an eligibility criteria).
• Have little to no professional experience working in the games industry. 
• Have good communication and collaboration skills, as the mentor and mentee relationship relies on meaningful interactions.
• Be punctual and regularly attend sessions. If mentees miss 20% of the mentoring sessions, their continuation in the program may be compromised.
• Have a valid ID card/passport, as some candidates may be asked to travel internationally to the THU main event. 
• Commit to the principles of diversity and inclusion, promoting a welcoming and respectful environment.

HOW TO APPLY

King & THU - Mentorship Program application consists of two stages:

Stage 1

• King & THU - Mentorship Program opens on the April 18,  2024 at 10:00 for candidates and closes on the May 19, 2024 at 23:59. If you proceed with an application outside of this period it will not be valid. 
• You apply by fulfilling three requirements: 1. Agreeing to these Terms & Conditions. 2. Completing the application form. 3. Completing the motivation question. 
• During and after Stage 1 closes, from all the valid entries, the KING and THU judging panel will select the candidates who, in their assessment, have shown the most interest, passion and merit in joining the mentorship program.  

Stage 2 

• Those who are successful will be contacted via email and invited to take part in one video interview, during which each candidate must further detail their motivation and explain why they are the right fit for the Mentorship.
• After screening all video interviews, the KING and THU judging panel will select up to seventy-five (75) candidates. These will be contacted by email no later than June 7, 2024.

 

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

1. Up to seventy-five (75) successful candidates will be awarded the Mentorship Program. From this moment forward, successful candidates will be addressed as Mentees. 

2. We will notify the successful candidates by email to your email address associated with your THU profile. If you do not accept the Mentorship Program within 7 (seven) days of us notifying you that you are a successful candidate, you will lose the Mentorship Program. 

If your application is unsuccessful you will be informed via email by  June 7, 2024.  

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

• There is no cost for the selected mentees to participate in this program.  
• Having a proficient level of English is necessary, as the program is primarily delivered in English.
• Submissions from organizations or companies are not accepted.
• The application period runs from April 18, 2024 to May 19, 2024.
• Candidates selected for video interviews will be notified until May 24, 2024.
• Selection announcement happens June 7, 2024. Successful candidates will be notified by email.
• The selection of the mentees will be the sole responsibility of THU and King.
• The program is expected to start in June and end in May 2025.
• Mentorships and Talks are online and last approximately an hour to two hours.
• All the mentees will be granted access to THU Career Camp (February 2025), 4 Masterclasses by THU, 1 Career talk by King, and 1 Gaming talk by King.  
• Mentorships will be resourced by a panel of expert mentors from King and the THU Community.
• We will not collect information indiscriminately and will limit collection of information to that which is reasonable and necessary for the purpose of the program. We will only use and disclose your personal information for the purposes set out above and as authorized by law.
• THU and King may advertise (ex: social media, offline publications) names and profiles of mentees for the sole purpose of program promotion or to keep them as historical record. The team may also reach out to ask for some quotes or interview requests related to your participation. By submitting an application, candidates assume they agree with the above. 
• By submitting an application, candidates acknowledge they agree with the terms and conditions of the program.
• By submitting an application, candidates grant THU and King the right to use their works or images across different media channels in order to promote THU or King’s activities. This can mean (but is not limited to) a product or work in progress created within the program.
• THU and King reserve the right to make changes to these Terms and Conditions, if necessary, from time to time.
• The mentoring program will go through different stages:
  • June to August 2024 (first 3 months) » THU mentoring for 75 mentees (format: 3 general group sessions of 2 hours per month, role/skill specific). 
  • August 2024 » The group will be divided into 2 groups (Group A - 25 mentees; Group B - 50 mentees), and the selection process for sorting into each team will involve the submission of a deliverable.
  • August - March 2025 » Group A - 25 mentees will attend the Main Event (first week of October 2024) and advance with King mentoring.
  • August - March 2025 (8 months) » Group A - King mentoring (1: 1 session,  1 hour per month).
  • August - April 2025 (9 months) » Group B - THU mentoring (3 general group sessions of 2 hours per month).
  • Date tbc  - King Masterclass for the 75 mentees.
  • 4 THU Masterclasses for the 75 mentees will occur over 12 months.
• Mentees can only belong to one of the groups.
• The 25 mentees selected by King (Group A) will have free access to the THU Main Event 2024, through an all-inclusive ticket (THU ticket, travel, accommodation, and meals). If for any reason this event does not take place, the mentees will be guaranteed a presence at another physical THU event, in the same conditions, until April 2025.
• The intellectual property of the work developed during the mentorships belongs to the mentees, as creators of these works.
• Existing employees of King, Activision Blizzard, or THU are not eligible to apply, nor are employees of any game industry company.
