Physically distanced, travel-restricted, access to friends and family altered - these are the times we’re living in. Now, more than ever, finding ways to meaningfully connect and unearth creative inspiration is a challenge. But don’t despair, with change and constraints blossom new ideas. Sony’s Talent League by THU provides a great opportunity to embrace your creativity and let it take flight. And although you can go it alone, there’s power and possibility in partnering with other like-minded creatives on your submission. Here are some thoughts to ponder as you decide on your approach.

You are talented, you are driven, you are creative. You will create great art. There is no doubt about it. But if you join forces with other kindred spirits, there’s potential to multiply those possibilities exponentially. When done effectively, more people can mean cross-pollination of more mediums and ideas, more time with more hands to do the work, and the support, encouragement, and accountability of a team, all focused on the same breathtaking goal. The choice is yours, and we’re certain that the result will be great no matter what you decide. Maybe this time the stars don’t align for collaboration. But who knows, maybe they do ;)

For the challenge, we’re looking for ideas that utilize radical cooperation between different areas of the digital entertainment industry, namely Film, Animation, Games, Music, VR, and more. Whether you realize it or not, you have skills and knowledge in a variety of different areas. We’re sure of it. And we know you’ll be able to leverage that successfully for this cross-border challenge. But for those who are looking to do something far outside their creative comfort zone, we encourage you to embrace your inclination. Post on the FB page, chat on the Discord channel, reach out and see if there’s someone out there who, like you, wants to partner, explore and disrupt. You’ll likely be surprised by the result.

When teams are aligned, collaboration can indeed “divide the task and multiply the success.”

But let's be honest, there are definitely challenges to teamwork: getting everyone on the same page, agreeing on the creative vision and approach, making sure voices are heard, that everyone’s contributing, not to mention the potential of different time zones, work and communication styles. There will be growing pains, there will be lessons learned, but there will also be unfathomable growth. Whether you choose this opportunity or one in the future to try your hand at creative collaboration, we hope you embark on that journey one day. As H.E. Luccock once put it: "No one can whistle a symphony. It takes a whole orchestra to play it." The music you’re making is beautiful. We can’t wait to hear your symphony.
