How can I attend THU Japan?
We did not host THU Japan in 2020 due to restrictions related with Covid-19. Subscribe to our newsletter to keep informed about updates for the next edition.
When and where does the Main Event take place?
THU will take place in Tróia, Portugal, a beautiful peninsula just 50km south of Lisbon. THU 2022 will happen between 19 - 24 September.
How can I attend THU Career Camp?
THU Career Camp 2022 edition will happen between March 8th and 10th. We'll be sending out more updates on our newsletter.
Main Event
Are there Covid-19 test requirements?
As of July 1, 2022, passengers entering national territory are no longer required to present proof of a test with a negative result for COVID-19 or to present a COVID-EU digital certificate or vaccination or recovery certificate issued by third countries, accepted or recognized in Portugal. As a result, we will no longer secure tests upon event entrance or check for digital certificates/ negative tests upon your arrival at our welcome desk.
What measures are being taken to ensure the safety of participants and to reduce the risk of the spread of COVID-19 at our ME?
You will still be required to comply with breathing etiquette, respect physical distancing and hand hygiene during the event. We will supply hygienic gels and all our venues have ventilation systems that ensure good airflow.
How does paying in installments work?
You can pay for your ticket with small payments made over a fixed period of time. The total price of the ticket is divided by the number of installments, which may vary from 5 to 2 (no additional fees are added), depending on when you purchase your ticket (the sooner the more installments!). You can read more about it on the Terms and Conditions.
Is there a refund policy on the ticket?
There are no refunds on THU tickets, except if THU Lda is obligated to cancel the event; If traveling to Portugal from your home country is prohibited.
What does the THU ticket include?
The ticket covers all THU intensive program for 6 days, from 9am to 1am: conference talks + Recruitment days + live demos + mentorships + other all-day activities. It usually also covers the shuttles from the Lisbon airport to Tróia and from Tróia to Lisbon airport on your last day. It does not include: travel, lodging and food expenses.
Is there any info about lodging in your website?
We have an exclusive deal for the attendees at two nearby hotels: Aqualuz Troia Mar & Rio and The Editory by The Sea Troia. You can find all the available info under More Info.
Where should I look for accommodation?
We advise you to choose in Troia because it's walking distance from the venues and... well, everything! You can also look at accommodation in Setubal, but you'll need to cross in the ferry everyday. Address of the main venue is Alameda da Marina, 7570-789. We will be providing updates regarding accommodation soon on our website.
Recruitment Sessions
What does the Recruitment participation fee include?
It includes full access to the venues for 2 recruiters. During the Recruitment days, the package covers a booth set up for your company, with Wi-Fi access and an energy boost area. The Fee also includes the trips from and to the airport for both recruiters (car + catamaran).
Where and how does the candidate's selection process work?
The selection process of candidates is held on the THU website before the event. Once you add the offers online, the candidates apply during a specific period, and you can review and accept the ones you want to interview. Finally, selected candidates can choose an available slot from the company's schedule.
What's the schedule and duration of the interviews?
The recruitment schedule starts at 9 am and finishes at 6 pm. The slot lasts a max of 20 minutes, followed by a 5-minute break before the next session. You can book a total of 34 interviews in the 2 recruitment days - max 17 per day.
Should we bring our own promotional material or swag/goodies to keep at the booth?
Each booth has a banner flag identifying the company's logo and image chosen by you. You're free to bring additional material such as swag, but its transport and any customs clearance costs are the company's responsibility.

Is Career Camp for me?
Career Camp is an online event for all those looking for new career opportunities or some sort of guidance, even inspiration. Developed for artists and creators in the digital entertainment industry, it offers a program for all seniority levels. From more technical profiles to straight up artists, this is your playground of network and evolution.
I’ve just applied for a ticket through the website. When will I know if I’m in?
We’re screening profiles every day. Please know we are trying to give a fair review to everybody and that takes time. Keep checking your email for news. Until then, take the time to polish your THU profile!
How does the application process work?
You’ll be using your THU Profile to apply to the Career Camp offers, so make sure you give it some serious love before submitting an application to any company! You can apply until their closing date. Companies will review all applications, and selected candidates will then be able to book an available slot!
Can I apply to job and mentorship opportunities, and portfolio reviews during the event days?
No, there's a deadline for applying for job openings, mentorships, and portfolio reviews. But during the event days, you'll be able to attend talks and career & skill development sessions.
Are all Career Camp activities subject to an application?
Career Camp is an intensive 72-hour online event of non-stop networking and inspiration! Besides mentorships, portfolio reviews, and job offers, during the camp, you’ll be able to attend career and skill development sessions, which don’t require any previous application. You just need to show up!
How do I know when new opportunities come up?
Not all offers come in at the same time. Keep an eye out for any updates! We recommend regularly checking your Career Camp 2023: Spring Edition dashboard for new opportunities.
Can companies limit the number of applications they want to receive?
Companies can choose to limit the number of applications they want to review for each offer. After the limit is reached, the offer is closed. But there’s a chance that some of the offers will reopen. Hit follow to get a notification if they do.
Why do I have pending applications?
Applications in a pending status haven’t been reviewed by companies yet. Please wait until the status changes to approved or not selected.
Yey! My application has been approved. What's next?
Happy dance! In that case you'll be able to schedule a slot for each application you’ve been approved for. Don’t miss the deadline to book!
Why can't I book my approved applications?
If you're not able to book, it's either because companies are still defining their availability and the slots are not yet visible to you, or because the company's available slots collide with your own schedule. Please contact the Tribe Care bears for support.
Will companies open up slots for everyone?
Companies should open up a slot for every approved candidate. But companies don't open their slots all at once. Keep checking Camp 2023: Spring Edition dashboard regularly so you know when slots open. To schedule a slot you must visit your approved applications list.
Sony Talent League edition III
What is Sony Talent League?
Created in 2020 in partnership with Sony, STL is a collaborative opportunity that encourages combining or integrating different digital art forms and exploring boundaries between creative disciplines! We’re looking for innovative ideas within the digital entertainment realm, namely Animation, Film, Games, VR, digital photography, 3D computer graphics, mixed media, etc.
Can I join in multiple submissions?
Yes! There is no limit on project submissions per person. However, when the time comes to select the Top 5 finalists, your participation will be limited to only one project.
What other criteria is taken into consideration by the judges?
Aspects related to entertainment value, social value and artistry will be considered during the selection process.
Can I use someone else’s creative material?
Although entries into the STL challenge are not commercial projects, it’s the responsibility of the submitter to use its own materials and, during the submission phase, clearly highlight used third party references. Final works must not infringe any copyrights, including the intellectual property rights, of any third party.
Can other team members join in later in the process?
You can start writing your submission solo but your core team must be assembled until the submission deadline.
Creators Circle 2023
Who is Creators’ Circle for?
Creators Circle is for artists and creators who want to add entrepreneurship to their skills set, as well as entrepreneurs who want to pursue projects in the Digital Entertainment Industry. The event is open to all genders, but it will bring special attention to Women’s leadership and how equity and sustainability can lead to better teams and companies. If you want to know more about funding, project managing, the value of the digital creative industry in today’s world, and how to build a business, then you belong in the Circle.
What do I get for an Event + food & drinks ticket?
This ticket grants you admission to the entire event program and covers all expenses at the venue, which include: Mediterranean buffet meals (from the 12th dinner to 16th breakfast) with daily changing menus; Snack stations and drinks available throughout the days of the event, until 3 am, and pre-dinner apéritifs; Free access to the pool, fitness area, sauna and outside activities like mountain biking, football and table tennis; Exclusive access to the traditional 17th-century manor house turned Oasis bar. Extra meals are subject to an additional charge. This ticket does not include accommodation or shuttle service to or from the venue.

What’s the schedule like?
We have a 3-day packed schedule that starts at 9 am and ends late in the evening. Make sure to arrive a bit early to collect your badge. Welcome desk opens at 3 pm on July 12. Check-in is from 3pm on July 12 and check-out is at 10am (after breakfast) on July 16.

Can you help with the visa letter?
Spain is part of the EU and the Schengen space. Check if you need a VISA to enter. THU issues visa invitation letters to help with the visa applications. After purchasing your ticket, please reach out to [email protected] to get some help.
THU Japan 2023
Who is THU Japan for?
THU Japan is an entirely new concept where you get to be fully immersed in the art of storytelling. This event is for creators and creatives (students & professionals) from all backgrounds who want to learn more about storytelling and how to create and structure unique stories.
What is the official language of the event?
The official language of the event is English.
Why does it happen in Kaga?
We fell in love with Kaga's nature, beautiful onsen and amazing culture - and we know you will too. Away from the stress of the big cities, we think it's the perfect atmosphere to tune-up your creative spirit.
What does the ticket include?
Full access to every activity in the program, as well as any activities that might not be listed but concern THU Japan. At THU Japan, we all eat together like a family. That's why we’re providing lunch and dinner during the event, from the 20th to the 23rd of September (lunch on the 20th is excluded). Breakfasts will only be available for those staying at the Arrowle.
Can I pay in installments?
Tickets can be paid in monthly installments. Payments by installments will not be available after August 15, 2023.
I’ve just bought a ticket, how do I book my hotel and where should I stay?
Stay right where all the action takes place - Hotel Arrowle. Room reservations are already available on our website. There are 5 room types, from single rooms to quads. Want help teaming up with other attendees? Use our Discord channel thu-japan. Hotel Arrowle is just outside Kaga. If you decide to stay at another hotel, you'll need to find alternative transport arrangements.

Covid related questions
A valid vaccination certificate or a covid pre-departure test are no longer required to enter Japan. While wearing a mask is currently left up to individual discretion, we highly advise attendees to take preventive measures and always follow hygiene etiquette. Face masks are a common sight in Japan (even before Covid) so it doesn’t hurt to pack your own.
