Figure Gesture with Jae Kwang Park

Description

How do you make a figure feel alive?

Jae Kwang Park will share his approach to figure gesture, movement, and drawing the human body with confidence and fluidity. Trained directly under Kim Jung Gi and Hyun Jin Kim, Jae Kwang developed a strong foundation in drawing and anatomy that continues to shape his work today.

But did you know that Jae Kwang is also a comic book artist?

One of his greatest strengths is his ability to draw the human figure in countless poses, movements, and perspectives—often without relying on photographic references. This skill comes from years of building a strong understanding of anatomy, gesture, and three-dimensional form.

In this lecture and live demonstration, Jae Kwang will share the principles and thought process behind his figure drawing, showing how a strong anatomical foundation can give artists the freedom to draw dynamic figures from imagination.

Now, he is bringing that knowledge and experience to THU.

Throughout the session, Hyun Jin Kim and Dong Ho Kim will also walk around the classroom, providing individual guidance and helping participants better understand and apply the concepts being demonstrated. This creates an intimate, hands-on learning environment where participants can receive real-time feedback while developing their own figure drawing skills.

Whether you are working on character design, comics, concept art, or simply want to become more confident drawing the human figure, this session will offer a rare opportunity to learn directly from Jae Kwang and gain insight into the strong foundations behind his fluid and intuitive approach to figure drawing.
