A practical, participatory session for learning how to look at art critically and understand why an image works or does not.

Participants can bring anything they want to examine: their own work, another artist’s work, a frame from a film, a game trailer, photography, concept art, or something they found online. Together, we will break the images down in terms of composition, value, color, visual hierarchy, storytelling, and intent, and discuss what could make them stronger.

The goal is not simply to critique individual pieces, but to practice the skill of evaluating art itself. Ideally, this would run as a recurring daily session so participants can keep exercising that skill throughout the conference.
