Amy Aniobi is a writer/director/producer, best known for her work on HBO's groundbreaking, Emmy-nominated comedy, “insecure," and as founder of production company and talent incubator, SuperSpecial. She enjoys travel, baking cookies and drinking Japanese whiskey.

Biography

Amy Aniobi is an award-winning writer/director/producer best known for her work on the NAACP-award winning, Emmy-nominated HBO comedy series "insecure.” She is the founder of production company, SuperSpecial, and industry talent incubator, TRIBE. Through SuperSpecial, Aniobi has produced multiple short films and is in development on several HBO projects and studio features. Her obsession with mentorship, artist support and approachable self-care also led her to co-create and co-host podcast, "The Antidote,” for APM Studios, named one of The Guardian's "best new podcasts of 2022." Prior to SuperSpecial, Aniobi wrote for “Silicon Valley” and “The Michael J. Fox Show.” She also served as showrunner for season one of HBO comedy special, “2 Dope Queens.” She has directed episodes of “Rap Sh!t” (max), “Survival of the Thickest” (Netflix) and “insecure” (HBO), as well as the award-winning short film, “Honeymoon,” inspired by her own parents’ arranged marriage. Amy is Nigerian, hails from North Texas, graduated from Stanford University and UCLA, and has lived both in the US (New York, the Bay Area) and abroad (France, Morocco). She enjoys travel, baking cookies and drinking Japanese whiskey.
