Biography

Ilkka Paananen is CEO and co-founder of Supercell, the Helsinki-based mobile games developer behind Clash of Clans, Hay Day, Boom Beach and Clash Royale. Since its founding in 2010, Supercell's four games have amassed 100m daily players and remain in the global top 10 years after launch. In June 2016, Supercell became the first European technology start-up to reach a valuation of $10 billion.

A serial entrepreneur, IIkka has been in the games industry since 2000. Prior to Supercell, Ilkka was CEO and co-founder of Sumea, which was later acquired by Digital Chocolate. There he served as a President until 2010.

In addition to his role at Supercell, Ilkka is an active member of the Nordic startup community. He is an advisor and investor at Lifeline Ventures and at Atomico, a coach at Startup Sauna and an active supporter of Slush.
