Biography

As Chief Technology Officer, Eric is responsible for the strategic design and management of Gnomon’s technology infrastructure, support, and standards.  

His IT career began in the mid 1990’s as a project specialist working on large IT and networking projects for Bank of America.  He simultaneously pursued an art career, studying fine art and 3D design at the Academy of Art in San Francisco.  With a passion for both art and technology, Eric moved to Los Angeles in 2000 to focus on a career in the Visual Effects industry, earning a certificate from Gnomon in 2001. His industry experience includes several commercial, episodic, and film projects primarily working as a Texture Painter, Look Dev artist and Technical Consultant for studios in the Los Angeles area.

Eric has been at Gnomon for 15 years, hired as the System Administrator in 2002, where he began to lay down an agile and scalable technology framework necessitated by the rapidly changing needs of the VFX industry while simultaneously accounting for Gnomon’s own growth projections.

In 2008, he began his role as the Director of Distance Education, a role focused on the oversight of curricula, academic practices, and technology development within Gnomon’s distance education model. In this role, he worked closely with teams of developers to create an acclaimed Learning Management System that has supported online learning for over 1000 students globally.

In 2010, he was hired as the Managing Director for The Gnomon Workshop where he oversaw the day-to-day business operations and production of training titles for the company before moving back to the Gnomon School to assume the role of CTO in 2014.

Eric has been an instructor at Gnomon for 12 years, developing curriculum and teaching a variety of Texturing and Shading courses.
