Biography

Mark has an extensive background in computer animation and digital filmmaking. He received his Ph.D. in computer graphics from Berkeley and began his career at ILM where he helped pioneer the use of digital technology in feature films. As a Visual Effects Supervisor, he was one of the people behind some of the first photorealistic CGI characters in film including the Psuedopod in The Abyss; the Liquid Metal T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day; and the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park. He has also created visual effects for many other films such as: Back to the Future II, The Hunt for Red October, Paranormal Activity 2 and 3, etc. After leaving ILM, Mark directed numerous commercials in locations around the world. He directed the live action feature Spawn, as well as several other live action movies. More recently, Mark has directed and/or produced a number of animated movies including The Reef, Garfield’s Pet Force, and continues to explore new ways of making movies.
