Description

This class will focus on the practical side of storytelling in a visual medium. From construction to workflow, we will discuss how to take away the blank page, how to motivate plot from characters, which tools to use to solve which problems, and how to troubleshoot and self revise to bring clarity and focus to your ideas. We will look at examples of films and discuss techniques involving camera, cutting, acting and pace. Whether you’re translating an idea from the written page, or conceiving a story out of thin air, the act of visualizing is always driven to connect with an audience. Finding and holding that audience is the goal and we’ll talk about how to use the tools to get their attention.
