Mentor, Queen, Warrior, Shaman

Description

Archetypal images transcend cultures and time, being an integral part of how we tell and understand stories. The archetypes of the mentor, queen, warrior or shaman, for example, are easily recognized and understood by worldwide audiences - which makes knowing them a useful tool for character creation and design. Design plays a role in the communication of these archetypal narrative roles and, in this talk, I'll share some trends and patterns of representation I've researched, identified and analyzed in animated feature films of the 21st century. Come along if you like myths, Joseph Campbell, evidence-based research and character design! This is part II of my previous Tribe Talk, during the Spring edition of Career Camp, where I shared a little bit about my ongoing PhD research project :)
