Biography

Robert MacKenzie is a 20 year veteran Artist, with experience spanning across film, animation, commercials and games.

He began his career in visual effects at ILM where he worked on visual development for numerous films and productions. In 2003, he moved into feature animation, where he worked as a Production Illustrator at PDI Dreamworks and later as a lead artist at Blue Sky Studios, working on everything from character design to colour keys. His film credits include The Hulk , Shrek 2, Horton Hears a Who!, Epic, The Peanuts Movie, Ferdinand and numerous Ice Age films. In addition to his work in digital media, Robert spends a lot of time drawing and painting traditionally, on his own personal projects.

He has worked as a children’s book illustrator, publishing with Abrams, Sterling and Random House. Also serving as an Illustration/ Animation instructor at San Jose State University and the School of Visual Arts in New York. Most recently in 2017, Robert moved into mobile games, when he joined King as Senior Director of Visual Development, working on the Candy Crush Franchise and many other exciting new projects.
