Rules

  • Participation in this challenge is 100% free.

  • It’s for creators aged between 18 and 35 years old.

  • We accept entries from creators that turn 35 until December 31, 2022.

  • Creators can apply individually or as part of a group (maximum of four members). All members of a team must fit the age criteria outlined above. 

    • If you prefer going solo, no need to feel lonely. Our Tribe Care team is always here for you at [email protected] or Discord if you ever need anything. 

  • Submissions from organizations or companies are not permitted.

  • There is no limit on project submissions for each person. Each person can be a part of different teams.

    • But in the selection process, only one project per person can be selected.

  • Projects from all areas of the digital entertainment industry are accepted.

  • Projects that mix more than one creative field, such as animation, music, film, games, VR, digital photography, music, mixed media, and so on are encouraged.

  • The official language is English. This means the submission (materials and form) must be in English, and mentorships will also be in this language.

  • Projects should be original. Only ideas that are new and in the pitching phase will be accepted. Projects that are already known or were presented publicly are not eligible.

  • We will only consider projects that can be done primarily within the creators’ resources and can be completed by the 17th of March 2023, at least as a prototype.

  • The intellectual property owner of the project and the legal rights to use all the materials submitted must have to belong to the creator who makes the submission.

  • THU and Sony will be allowed to use the contents of the submitted projects, in the context of Sony Talent League by THU publicity,  including social media content, website display, etc.

  • By submitting a project, entrants agree to use the sponsor's branding only in accordance with these Rules and Regulations.

  • An initial eligibility triage is performed by THU, and the selection process to determine the Top 5 will be held by the Mentors, as well as Chair Mentor Shuzo Shiota. Submissions will be evaluated according to the criteria described below. Our evaluation will value submissions that go over the boundaries and are not afraid of new technology.

  • Mentorships will be performed by a panel of expert mentors previously announced on the THU Website.

  • Creators must have at least 25 hours a week to dedicate to the project during the mentoring period.

  • Creators must be available to travel during the dates presented for the 3-day in-person bootcamp, these are from July 13th to July 15th, 2023.

  • Sony Talent League by THU five finalist projects will get:

    • 9 weeks of mentorships to develop the project (per submission)

    • Funding of up to 10.000€ (per submission) 

    • The provided funding is meant to help support living expenses (the awarded sum will be calculated according to each creator/team member’s living country) and make sure they can be fully committed and focused. Budget allocation and management are the team's responsibility. Project collaborators' remuneration is an eligible expense for those fully committed to the project and who respect the age criteria. 

    • The funding is not per person (in the case of team submissions) but per submission.

    • Three Day in-person Bootcamp - physical event with all expenses paid (travel, accommodation, and meals) to each member of the finalists team.

    • Pitch your project in front of real investors - you and your team will be able to take all you’ve learned and pitch your project in front of investors eager for new and innovative ideas.

  • Sony Talent League by THU winner project will get:

    • Full-ride to THU next event (ticket, travel, accommodation, and meals) to each member of the winning team.

Criteria

Our judges will value submissions that go over the boundaries and are not afraid of new technology.

Regarding the selection criteria, we have defined some fundamental parameters and indicators: (all of these will have the same value)

  1. Combination of creative areas,
  2. Compelling storytelling (though not necessarily as a narrative),
  3. Having a high artistic quality,
  4. Having originality.
