Computer Sketch time!! 

Have pity on me. It's my first time painting like this.

I'm loving the technique, and I hope to get hooked..

Coming up with the sketch of the idea, 2 people fought inside of me: a fan of dark post-apocalyptic cyberpunk in the style of "Blame!" and a lover of classic "high-tech future" with neon signs and cybernetic technologies. It was also a bit of a personal thing for me, because the invention of a full-fledged virtual reality with a connection to the brain is one of my big dreams. Truly, I like to run away from reality, I guess :)

In the second case, the concept of 5G fit in there very organically. Thougt than done! I chose to create a three teens working in time changing agensy "時間" in far future using a 5G technologies to connect to the brain to dive in and analyze some of the events that have already happened. At a young age, the brain is much more flexible to create new neural connections to make that kind of job, so teenagers mostly work there. So heroes of this plot will be a teens called Hi, Ji and Pun (日, 時, 分). One is an operator, the other is a corrector and making action strategy with voice instructions to the operator, and the third is an analyst.

I put on paper different options for poses and composition to better represent my idea. after many discarded ideas I arrived at the 3 thumbnails I posted and among them, I chose the one I should use as a base for my illustration. I used this opportunity to study how to create the underwater visual effect. I still haven't decided how I want to represent the elephant.

Worked mainly on the hologram effect and tried to fit it within the painting. Also added some trees to the city to give a more nature-like city vibe.
Next will work in fitting everything in the background as some stuff doesn't look quite right.

These are the first sketches I made while thinking about the theme for this challenge. I'm trying to envision how the future will be and how it could be and then combining the two concepts.

Thinking about the theme of this Challenge I discovered that to create my work I had to investigate the way I choose to educate my daughter "Catalina". Everything was there!

For that reason, I thought of each of the words that I frequently use with the intention of pass on
a teaching that allows her to create and be part of a better present and future.

“People who respect others, but also who know how to respect themselves and from there, from an inner balance, manage to go through their lives being part of a society with the sensitivity to connect, emotionally and technologically, with responsibility and commitment necessary to diving into the benefits of development without losing sight of caring for the environment that surrounds them”

She is my legacy and the way I choose to educate her every day is made up of the ingredients that I consider necessary to live in a better world… today, tomorrow and always.

Pensando en la consigna de este concurso me di cuenta que para crear mi obra debía indagar en la forma que educo a mi hija “Catalina”.  Todo estaba allí!

Por eso pensé en cada una de las palabras que uso frecuentemente con el fin de educarla, con la intención de dejarle una enseñanza que le permita crear y ser parte de un presente y un futuro mejor.

Ella es mi legado y la forma en la que la educo está compuesta por los ingredientes que yo considero necesarios para vivir en un mundo mejor, hoy, mañana y siempre.

Rough sketch of the idea which I am almost ashamed to post here. But since this image is to be about kindness and community, I will be kind on my sketch too. 
So the idea behind this is to portray the conecting beetwen everybody wherever you are and to be welcome to any community like a home.
 

I don't remember if I've drawn babies and elephants before. I used Andrew Loomis as a starting point to understand the proportions of a baby. for the elephant, I found it interesting to see some animation and videos to understand how they move. in both cases, I researched underwater references, and I believe it will help me a lot. I'm still thinking about how I'm going to put it all together. soon I will have some thumbnail options

After figuring out the designs, I drew the lineart so it would be easier to colour them. Plus giving them a contour will contrast nicely with the planned painterly-looking background.

With 2nd character, I drew 4 concepts before deciding on the 3rd one.

I was drawing a more detailed character concept based on what I drew in the main sketch. I decided to continue with the 2nd version.

Here it is cleaned up.

My recent sketching update so far for Agent of Change. I've gained so much experience from this challenge by learning a new form of environment.

The human girl and the monkey seems rather lonely for something being inclusive.

Now in Photoshop, still with these two character in focus, I added more people on the background, all of them with the same or similar umbrella. I placed them in the image to make it seem like these umbrelas were also connected, following a line out of the canvas, and made it similar to a dotted line.

Instead of focusing on futuristic scenery, I tried to not make it focus so much on the technology, but instead the result of the changes that comes with 5G. This of course in a metaphorical way, I don't want the image to tell the viewer "this is what the world will look like", I prefer to make the impact more emotional, trying to capture in more symbolic imagery what it would feel like to be connected.

So from now on I'll be focusing on the "How it would feel to be connected".

The composition might still change, but the overall idea for it is more or less defined now.

The three previously mentioned elements didn't feel like enough to make a full composition, so I decided to add an umbrella to it.

This element would make the composition in mind more full, and give meaning to the image, the meaning being that of inclusivity: "being under the same umbrella"; and how the human, the animal, and the technology complete each other in a positive way.

On the center of the page I drew three ink strokes for an idea of how the human, the animal and the umbrella would relate to each other in the composition. The animal being more low down; the human a bit over it, watching over the animal; and the umbrella on top of both. I felt like this relationship would give a feeling of protection over each other.

It was then drawn some thumbnails and different perspectives on this same composition, trying to find out how it would look better.

The first things that came to mind with 5G were the connection between human and nature, and interaction between them.

At first I had 3 elements in mind:

- The Human

- The Animal

- The Technology

I drew some images of how these could be interacting with each other, through small thumbnails, I wanted to make clear the facial expressions of both characters and what they were interacting with.

This image has already most of the linework, after a color study it will still suffer changes to create better readability.

Not so little tumbnails on how I would like the light to perform on this image. I still not sure which would pass the message I want tho, but will get there. Very soon I hope because I am running out of time.... autch!
