Project Description

This is an animated series about an Indian mother named Tara. She is our reluctant superhero who has a lot on her plate having to juggle her artistic career while taking care of her tech obsessed family. On top of that she is expected to save the world! To that Tara says, “No, thank you!” To her, much like to many other Indian mothers, family comes first! But if only things could go her way... Tara’s nemeses are not going to let her off the hook that easily. The motivation behind wanting to create this series is: - To create a lighthearted yet meaningful show about a strong Indian superhero, who at first glance seems to prioritise her family over saving the world. - To use animation and comedy as a method to talk about the pros and cons of being an asian woman in our society. - To introduce the audience to urban India, where I feel there are a lot of vibrant stories that are waiting to unfold and move the focus away from stereotypes. - To use satire to talk about different platforms of technology and media and its effect on different generations i.e. Tara’s mom, Tara and Nikhil. Ideally, this series would be a mixture of 2D animation and Claymation. Whenever Tara displays her frustration (mostly in her mind) it would be depicted in Claymation.
