Brushstrokes and Basslines: An Indie Story

In this talk, I look back at a handful of indie game projects I’ve worked on and walk through what it actually takes to bring one from idea to launch. Each project is unpacked across four stages: the original vision and how it held up, the realities of production with a small team and limited budget, the marketing choices that worked (and the ones that didn’t), and what release day and the weeks after it really looked like.

Along the way, I’ll share the lessons that carried over from one project to the next, from finding a distinct creative voice to building an audience before there’s anything to sell.
The session closes with a first public look at a new indie project that brings visual art and music together. Rooted at street level and shaped by the people and places around it, the project explores how image and sound can feed each other to create something that matters beyond the screen.

This talk is for creators, developers, and anyone curious about how small, independent work finds its way into the world.
