Doing some colour sketches to find the vibe I'm looking for.

This was really all about making the scale feel huge. I like where it's going but I now need to find the balance between this exciting scale and the intimacy of the previous sketches

I'll definitely will need to define the core characters more, so that will be the next step. 

I'm happy with how the environment is coming together so I will be photo bashing, applying gradient map and painting over.

More Sketches and Explorations for the Connectivity Tree

Few thumbnails. I really like the green compositions, so I will be developing the ones with antennas and closer characters on the left side. I have some photos of buildings from my home city that will be great for creating a bit of a photobash/overpaint as the base for the background.

I started developing the sketch further, but I'm not so sure about it anymore so my plan is to make some thumbnails of other ideas. Maybe something connected to my homeland, my childhood? Polish apartment buildings from 70's but improved, more colourful and fun. That might be a idea worth exploring.

A sketch of an idea, that I will try to develop further, perhaps? Like a futuristic street of some sort?

This thing here is not really a proper concept but was kinda my initial response to the theme.

Made in Affinity Photo, the first time I ever tried to draw and photo manipulate in that software.

I will probably go back to drawing compositions by hand, rather that merging photos first.

Further sketching this morning developing one of the previous ideas - might start building some of the elements ( specifically the tree) to experiment with other angles and compositions.

Sketches of different ideas and color exploration to try to find a direction, the main concept was an advanced world with a lot of organic base inspiration with characters in the foreground exploring the wonders of 5G technology.

Current thoughts~

Class of kids experience and learn outside of the classroom. learning resources are quickly accessed wirelessly

The environment could be like a botanical garden, or an industrial hydroponics plant.
Either way adult workers can be shown doing the sorts of jobs the kids are learning about; interactions, teaching/showing them various skills.
 

Could include some small robots/drones. These could be used for all sorts of tasks and run on a very powerful general AI. This AI would have to run externally so the drones rely on low latency 5g internet to receive that information.

Off on holiday for most of this month so I'm trying my best to speed run this whilst also producing something nice!

My idea is that large scale connectivity via 5G has been achieved through a technological advancement that allows fibreoptics and routers to grow across vast distances through organic roots. I'm going to focus on this particular cities '5G Tree' where all roots emenate from. 

Key ideas here are to show:

Some form of organic and technological integration

The freedom for humans afforded by a utopian post work setting

A landscape that allows for large shared spaces like parks and travel infrastructure 

Hints of sustainable energy usage

I want to bring the idea of integration between people, nature and technology with the project, and a conceptual aproach to the future of screens and shared knowledge. In my visualization, the future will be more interactive and will encourage movement, action and exchanges between people. 

Finally starting to narrow down on a concept. I really liked the idea of both characters standing on top of a large structer and overlooking the city. I felt this gives me a good opportunity to showcase what the world looks like, while also being  able to focus on the design of the characters at the same time, further adding to the worldbuilding and story. 

I've taken some ideas from previous sketches and started mashing them into one concept. Since I really liked the idea in my initial sketch, I decided to stick with the giant flowers. However this time acting as solar panels, supplying energy, puryfing the air and making everything look and smell nice. 

Further exploring ideas and different scenarios. Not really thinking too much about anything specific, just sketching out different elements and letting the story play out infront of me until something catches my attention.

Taking some of the ideas and sketches that I liked from my sketchbook into Procreate. At this point I'm still exploring and thinking of a story behind the piece to tie in with the theme while trying to make something that I think looks cool. 

Maybe some ambitious scientists saw potential in mixing human dna with plants so that people can feed off sunlight by photosynthesising in order to reduce consumption and eliminate world hunger, however something went terribly wrong in the process.

Starting out with pen and papper to help me loosen up and explore some ideas and concepts.

Using the analogy of the mythical beast's powers, the towers resemble its horn.
A very proud society for having achieved such a demand for a better world. From this energetic revolution, people began to adopt these mystical creatures in their daily lives, living the mythulogies theme in other engineering around the world.

It's time to reveal the comp studies I've made today, I've tried to find a good balance between the Architect and the main flower. 
Now it's time to find the right one between these 4! I can't find a favourite, but the bottom left is the one that gives me better vibes and have an interesting movement between the pollen/moths and the environment. 
But I'll keep some days to think about it (maybe I'll do some more lol)

finding new ways to convey the maintenance idea 

Hey all! Here are some intial sketches--the bigger one is what I thought I would go with as the foundation for the final painting but as I'm typing this out, I feel like I might switch to the composition at the bottom right. 

When I think about advancements in tech and sustainable practices, I'm hoping that it is followed by greater access to education for the general population. I remember loving those days when my lower/middle school teachers would have class outside. So, wouldn't it be cool if we could have free lectures on important topics like climate change etc.using holograms, open to leaners of all ages and of all social backgrounds. 

My initial concept is based on human presence related to technology and sustainability, valuing the integration between human and nature. 5G appears as waves present in this scene, connecting and intersecting with the characters. The main idea is to use colours and movement in the composition to represent the vision of this integrated future. On of the main references is the Ghibli movie Laputa: Castle In The Sky, wich presents the strong concept of the relationship between humans, technology and nature.

Beginning stage started to develop the elements on top of the composition base, the number of sketch fases generally depends on the amount of detail and elements each piece has.
