  • And now.... drum roll ... color tests

I did way to many color tests as well, so instead of spamming them I just picked three like I normally do with client work and now I'll progress with the image and see how to go from here.
I want to portray hope, peace and community so I feel E is the strongest. It has a sense of dawn and I feel it captures perfectly the mood I'm after.
Now let's get into fleshing out the characters

  • Composition WIP - 002

I've made good progress this weekend.

    • Finally I've put together some of the trees and plants together!
    • Changed the camera position slightly
    • Moved some objects to a better position
    • Opened a few UVs and got some textures on the tree
    • Separated the scene in 3 layers - Foreground. Middleground and Background.

There is a lot more to be done and the main issue I still need to solve are the Tree Top, which I'm still not sure how I'll solve it.

I also need to improve some of the atmosferic and put kind of a fog to the scene,.To give it more depth and a better mood. Right now as it is the car and the back tree are in the same plane of the robots, but they should fell they are a bit far from the camera still.

I'm really glad that more people are joning the Golden Ticket as well! Let's keep pushing!! =)

  • "Welcome Home" wip#1

At start I ask myself , how can I express a warm feeling of joy and belonging, but also inspire the viewer with a sense of adventure in a fantastical world where civilization is in balance with our environment?

Pulling deep from  my emotional pockets, what visual gives me those feelings?

    scribbling away chasing the feeling...

  • Fisheye

I've been building lots of stuff in Blender and experimenting with the fish-eye camera. It's a little hard to use and I'm not sure if it's the direction I'll take, but it's one way to achieve this expansive view of all levels of the city

  • Infinite realities

    Experimenting with ideas :)

When I think of 5G what pops to mind are strong connections and what fields can truly benefit from these connections for example medicine and agriculture. I also want to portray the fun side of 5G so will be incorporating a gaming aspect. In this reality, as well as headsets and glasses, I wanted to introduce a cordless option through contact lenses to provide the wearer with augmented and mixed realities with greater field of vision.

  • 3d base

I built the environment in 3D so I could easily place the cameras in the scene and find a good angle for my final image.

  • sketches and idea

I tried to imagine a concept of an autonomous city. This city looks like a nest, where humans live connected a bit like ants or bees. The city is composed of 3 main parts, a large housing tunnel, a nest which is the place where all commercial activities take place and a water station which is located outside at the top of the city and which supplies the city with electricity and water. This city puts the link between humans and the link between humans and nature back in the center of priorities.

Quick render in Blender, not sure why it's taking a while to render, rip laptop but you're holding up ! I didn't want to light the scene too much as I will be painting over it. Keep to get started in photoshop

The "flats" are done and so far so good. Though the work has just begun. honestly, I can't wait to start the ilumination work, I want to see this robot shine. i already have some effects and edits to make this scene a bit more alive.

With the characters on set, I honestly feel satisfied with the tunel texture. Moving foward now, everything else awaits. Thank God for the time limit extention.

  • Concept/Process Art for Submission July 2022, Personal Notes

A page from my process document and personal notes for this project. The images in the browser-like textbox are not my own but serve as reference material. The kitchen concept I featured in this document I did not record the source for because it is part of my reference images for a personal dream project of mine which I have already started designing to some degree, which is to build and design my own sustainable home.

You can see in this document that I have been wrestling with the sheer variety of types of environments that could be featured in the final image. I do not think the desert homes will likely be featured in the final but it is a magical and practical form of home design and sustainable living, I could not resist trying to make some images that captured the concept. I am unlikely to include the interior kitchen image I made, as I do not think it captures what I am trying to convey as well, but I do really love the energy it has and how it pulls together and visually validates the concept.

  • WIP Process Post, Concept Art and Notes

I am having a lot of fun with this project, I have been dreaming about solarpunk cities since I was a child. Generative art and CGI allows for a whole new way to iterate and explore sustainable living concepts, it is a delight to have a reason to play around in this area of my imagination. My primary guiding influences for this project are Jacque Fresco (The Venus Project), Luc Schuiten, Vincent Callebaut as well as cob architecture and Earthships in Taos, NM, US. I am trying to generate and perfect an image that can touch on a lot of technical concepts while still remaining visually stimulating and inspiring. Pictured here are some marked-up art of mine and some of the notes that I put together to help me plan.

  • Progress Post Nr 3 - How can I keep this joke going? ahah

Very random, but not so random color tests. I wanted to try a non realistic, fantasy color pallete for these. I didn't want to give these creatures a race, gender or age. I wanted them to be recognizable , that was my only objective. I will had more details to them later tho, I hope everybody can identify the bunny tho ahah The only character I wanted to have in this is the character in the first plane, I wanted the idea of a Grandma which you always feel confortable and invited to visit her home, you know?
As for the mood and it was very important to me to pass a sense of calm, acceptance and peace. I am a bit inbetween B and C for the final option.

  • Color and Value Ideas

I'm not convinced about the initial sketch but I still like the idea... I think it may be becuse of the style I used or that the composition was not quite working. Since we have more time for the deadline, let's see how I can rethink this illustration and try to learn something in the process.

So, since I  did way too many thumbnails I had quite a hard time picking 1.

My concept for agents of change is still a bit confusing, but hopefully, the message will get through in the following stages.

  • Line work

I made the line and I'm still deciding how the tonal will work. reading the illustration is still not working as I want. I received feedback from Ursula Dorada and added examples of 5g antennas to make it clearer that everything is a sea of signals. I'm studying different ways to make the water effect. I haven't found a way yet that matches the illustration and favors the composition.
