Project Description
The permafrost is melting, the seashore is eroding. Alaskan villages are threatened. The movie "Newtok On The Road Again" tells the story of the first Yup'ik village that wants to relocate. It aims to inspire other 3D artists to help sustainable projects stand out. This image is extracted from it. The new village can be moved thanks to light and foldable inflatable structures. The main dome revives a tradition; the qasgiq was a place for gathering. It disappeared when villages were forced to settle down by the US government in the 1950s.
