Biography
Stella Stergiou is a greek visual artist working based in Brussels. Architect turned illustrator turned comic book artist, her career took a different direction after completing her studies at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), by working as an illustrator and comic book artist, reinterpreting classic and original stories into two dimensional pages. Her beginning was The Little Prince (Polaris editions) and since then she continued collaborating with greek publishing houses (Patakis editions, Mikri Selini, etc) and universal organizations, providing visual material for educational and informational purposes (UNESCO). Her work has been featured in anthologies and magazines (Blue Comet, Polaris editions) and been exhibited all over Greece (X Them Out, HumanRights 360 and Rosa Luxemburg Institute, The Walking Dead Art, Fox Greece and M Art, etc).
A city dweller all her life, her work is inspired by the urban landscape and is heavily influenced by books, movies and comics she devours. Her academic background has, among other things, formed her approach to narrative in a more structured way and pushed her to explore compositions through shapes and textures.
You can find her at her apartment in the city center weaving the stories of random passer by’s and sketching their ensembles.
