Shakira Nalini Williams is a Mixed Media Artist and Designer. She was born in Jacksonville, Alabama to a West Indian mother and an American father. 

Drawing is the way that she expresses her ideas and emotions. It is the way that she authentically communicates. The repetition of lines, patterns and details are usually how she transports herself into the piece. This repetition is also much like having a conversation through her pencil with the paper and other materials. In order to explain thoughts in detail, Shakira chooses to use graphite and/or ink to create work, bringing attention to elements of the subject matter that may otherwise be missed. Sometimes color is added, to enhance the emotional aspect of the piece or to be a companion to the subject.

What is shared with the audience is the message of wonder, imagination, and hope. Shakira wants to show the audience the endless possibilities of this world beyond what we see every day.
