Seiji Igei graduated from DePaul University in Chicago in 2018 with a BFA in Animation. During his time at DePaul they studied abroad in Okinawa, Japan and worked as an assistant to experimental animator and animation professor Jacob Ciocci. They enjoy creating fun, nostalgic art that remixes American and Asian pop culture. He focuses on creating engaging and educational work that informs and inspires others. He studied Okinawan history, and culture from August 2019 - December 2019. Though this exchange program they gained broader inspiration and perspectives on the world that they translate into their art. Seiji has helped in social justice work and activism in Chicago and Los Angeles since 2015. From revitalizing and leading the award-winning organization Queer People of Color (QPOC) DePaul, to joining the 2020 Solidarity Arts Fellowship and currently a steering committee member of Little Tokyo-based organization Vigilant Love. With this experience, they hope to create and support stories that envision a more just and caring world.
