Traditional Animation

2D/3D Character Animator, Illustrator, Cleanup Artist. Incredibly "passionate" (do you love buzzwords?) about film, tv, video games, and most anything and everything in the animated medium.

Biography

Howdy! I am a RCAD 2016 graduate who has been active in the industry in an animation based role for over 5+ years. I have worked in digital content creation for Hasbro, primarily in games from 2019 to 2021 with Steamroller Studios, and am currently striking out on my own as an independent freelancer specializing in traditional 2D character animation. I am a skilled 2D/3D animator, illustrator, and designer, who is eager and hungry to find my next role in the industry.

Stuffy professional requisites out of the way, here's more on my current professional circumstances:

Extended lockdown during the pandemic lead to both burnout in my then field of 3D animation for games as well as a drastic priority shift in both my personal and professional life. Since then, I have been attempting to explore my career options as an artist, and have semi-successfully upskilled into my new chosen discipline of traditional 2D character animation. I say semi-successfully because, while I do believe the 2D animation work shown in my current demo reel is strong enough to land me work (and it has gotten me the occasional freelance job, mostly with independent productions), nothing long term or financially sustainable has come my way yet. I love the work I've been able to do as a 2D animator and was initially hopeful I could independently navigate this new area of the industry, but the current state of said industry, what I feel are my limited opportunities to network and build out my professional connections from my current location, and a lack of concrete direction or mentorship have left me with no sense of forward momentum.

From participating in the THU 2023 Fall Career Camp, I hope to gain valuable insights and professional connections/mentorships that will help me both elevate my work and make confident, long-term career decisions, so that I may pursue a career in the animation industry that feels artistically fulfilling, challenging, and sustainable.
