
Biography
Saira Umar is a storyteller with a love for many mediums and interdisciplinary work. She graduated from the University of Maryland, class of 2019, and her studies included Musical Theater, Psychology, and Art! She then went on to do the Disney College Program in Disney World, Florida, and then worked as an English/History/Art teacher.
Currently, she is aiming to work in animation production, development, and/or writing. She hopes to tell positively impactful stories using her background in art, writing, and musical theater. She is especially passionate about stories concerning identity, family and culture, and following dreams.
Saira trained as a screenwriter in the PBS Children's Writing Program and was previously a Semi-Finalist in the Universal Animation Writing Program and Walt Disney Imagineering Imaginations (Themed Attraction Design).
Some interests include: mythology & world cultures, performing, puzzles/escape rooms, cooking/food, video games, and crafting!
