Richwealth Orphan is a South African multidisciplinary creative professional with more than 20 years of experience in illustration, graphic design, 2D animation, comic creation, storyboarding, character design, background design and creative direction.
As the Founder and Creative Director of Richie Orphan Comics, Richwealth develops original comic IP from concept to publication, combining strong visual storytelling with character development, world-building and creative direction. His work includes character, background and concept design, digital colouring, storyboarding and the creation of production-ready 2D animation assets.
His animation experience includes 10 years as a 2D Animation Background Design Artist at Pixcomm, where he designed and painted backgrounds for more than eight animated series covering over 50 episodes. He developed backgrounds while maintaining visual style, continuity and production requirements across animation projects.
Richwealth has also worked as an Illustrator, Storyboard Artist and Creative Director at Umlando Wezithombe, where he led a team of eight illustrators and contributed to more than 20 comic issues. His responsibilities included character and background design, storyboarding, digital colouring and the development of visual style guides.
With an NQF Level 5 qualification in Graphic Design, Richwealth combines traditional creative thinking with digital production skills using software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Animate, Clip Studio and other creative tools.
His creative approach is focused on visual storytelling, imagination, character development and bringing ideas from concept to finished artwork. Whether developing a comic, designing characters and environments, creating storyboards or producing 2D animation assets, he brings a hands-on understanding of the complete creative process.
