

Biography
Renato José Duque is a director from Brazil. He graduated in Audiovisual from the University of São Paulo and holds a Master’s degree from the international animation program Re:Anima, with a triple degree from LUCA School of Arts (Belgium), AALTO University (Finland), and Universidade Lusófona (Portugal). He directed two animated short-films,”Ocean” (2017) and “Cherry, Passion Fruit” (2024), selected for festivals including Animafest Zagreb, Vila do Conde, Huesca, Havana, Warsaw, among others. His new short film, “Dawn at Terezinha Building”, is a co-direction with Cesar Cabral (Brazil), and premiered at Annecy 2026. Renato is currently working in an upcoming Portuguese television series as the co-direction of an episode by writers José Eduardo Agualusa (Angola) and Mia Couto (Mozambique).
