Biography

This is where I find myself. My professional career has been smooth and fluid but somehow unsatisfactory. Even as a child, my dream was always to be an artist, even if I didn't really know what that meant. I have a passion for writing and literature, which gives me a particular interest in the Pre-Production Process. For that reason, I have pursued a few projects in which I created scripts, storyboards and conceptual art by myself, experience that has taught me to appreciate how valuable a good team is to the creative process and how exhausting it is to try to do everything alone. Due to the lack of opportunities in a small country like Portugal, I ended up studying Communication Design, an area that moved away from the arts but taught me a lot about Semiotics, Image Perception and image theory in general. Not satisfied with the idea of a career in Design, I entered the first Master's course in Digital Animation in the country, in the year it opened. From there I embarked early and almost unthinkingly in the teaching career and from there it was difficult to dedicate myself fully to content creation. I took a lot out of the years I spent teaching, including a great deal of depth in different areas of audio-visual production as well as a huge form of therapy for my previous social anxiety. I found new areas of interest that I hadn't imagined for my career, namely video capture and editing and photography, areas to which I ended up dedicating myself with great pleasure. But the desire to create remained. Despite having used these years to learn, teach and work on small and medium projects of Illustration and Animation, both 2D and 3D and having tried numerous innovative techniques, such as 3D Printing, 3D Dome Projection, Motion Capture and in-studio experience with my students, my time was always limited and I was never able to give the dedication I wanted to the projects in which I was involved. That's why I'm in a process of change. I'm leaving the teaching path to try working in a team, in projects of considerable size. And since I'm thinking about moving and abandoning comfort spaces, why not do it seriously? That's why I'm thinking of migrating, leaving this country that, being so small, can't accommodate anything bigger than itself, and creating a new path with my little family in a new place with new perspectives for work and life.
