Art has always been my outlet and a part of my life; for over a decade I have trained and worked as an Optometrist, where my art was focused on the eye and my patients. This has helped develop and hone my skill for attention to detail. I guess when I wasn’t actively drawing, sketching or painting I was using Optometry to seek fulfilment. In 2017 I was fortunate enough to travel to South America for four epic months. Going travelling was one of the best decisions of my life. From hiking the Perito Moreno Glacier to experiencing the wonderful mirror effect of Salar de Uyuni to hiking the Inca trail and reaching the sun gate to see the majestic Machu Picchu to staying in the wonderful Amazon Rainforest. The entire experience was spectacular and I believe was the beginning of my path to self-discovery. I was immersed in unfamiliar environments, exposed to new cultures, met new and wonderful people and cultivated new friendships. I believe this experience provided me with a new way to perceive life, who I am and how I spend my time. It is what gave me the courage to break free from my day to day and pursue my creative side. Like many, it was the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown that was the catalyst, that galvanised me into action to pick up my sketchpad again, after so many years. With everything that is going on in the world I want to do something I am passionate about and explore and stretch my creativity further. In the hope, that I am able to make a positive impact whilst doing so. I have embarked upon many creative projects since, including baking and painting cakes, which pleased my inner child! Through drawing again, I have been introduced to and have been experimenting with digital art. This has taken my creativity to another level, it allows us to create something multi-dimensional and has opened up the opportunity to explore and work with different mediums such as comics, Webtoons for example, which I would have not have tried in the past. This is such an exciting time for me in my journey as a creative, I have decided to retire from being an Optometrist to fully commit myself to art and my creative soul. I am so excited to see where this journey takes me and to learn from every piece I create and hopefully I can make a career of this. Thank you for taking the time to read my bio.
