Hello! My name is Quincy, and I am a young artist with an interest in concept development and animation. In my personal practice I work to elevate Cartoon Animation as a respected storytelling medium.

Biography

Exactly two years ago, I graduated from art school. As I searched for jobs, I came to the terrifying realization that I wasn't as ready as I thought, and that the school I poured 5 years of my life into hadn't adequately prepared me for the future I wanted to achieve for myself. After previous employment plans fell through, I fell into a deep pit of self-doubt which only grew deeper with each job rejection. I need a sense of direction. This desire has brought me here, and I am eager to meet talented artists and learn from their wisdom and experience. I am currently working as the Store Lead of a well-respected local tea shop in Cincinnati, but now after my extended break from professional art-making, I am ready to jump back in!

I am interested in the fields of game design and animation because I believe art is best enjoyed in a format that engages the viewer. As someone who adores both kinds of entertainment, I understand the power, value, and influence they can have on their audience. I want to make art feel accessible to everyone, and these mediums allow me to achieve that goal. I am well-practiced in character design and have developed several video game and story concepts. I do commission work on a semi-regular basis and have been hired to do pet portraits and small-scale murals. I have also done work in corporate fields, such as the safety training animation I directed and animated for a local nonprofit, Artworks, and the assets and animations I have made for Cincinnati Children’s Hospital as a Media Lab intern.

My primary career goals are to find my niche in the industry and be able to tell compelling and accessible stories for all ages with a talented team working beside me, in whatever position I land in that allows me to execute that goal. I also want to be flexible and open to alternative routes I might not have considered previously. I am unsure whether my future belongs in the production or management sides or animation, but I love working with groups of equally passionate individuals and thrive doing work that supports a greater cause.
