Biography
Noelia Mª Muíño González (Galicia, 1992) is a writer, director, cinematographer and producer of various short films. Her last work was as co-director for the TV series ‘Sofía Casanova: a obreira do pensamento’ produced by Zenit TV. Recently, Noelia was selected by Variety as one of the Five Spanish Animation Talents to Track.
Previously, she was a video editor for ‘The New York Times’ and Layout Artist for Skydance Animation Madrid (Luck, Spellbound). Her animation feature project ‘Viaje al Bosque Olvidado’ was selected by Weird Market catalog and also by Nextlab 2022. At this workshop, the project received the Best Spanish Project Award thanks to which it was presented at Annecy Film Festival the same year.
Her short films ‘Monte Bravo’ and ‘The Widow’ recieved several awards and selections at international festivals. Noelia also directed the short documentaries ‘Silent Hour’ and ‘The carpet seller’, and was director of photography of short films such as ‘Safe among stars’, directed by Jess Snow and received the Best Canadian Short film award by the National Film Board of Canada. She was also jury of the Goya Qualifying Festival ‘Mostra de Curtas Vila de Noia’ and Professor at the Animation Degree by U-tad. Before that, she worked as Layout Artist at Dneg VFX (Venom, Fast&Furius, Muerte en el Nilo) Trixter (Tabaluga) and Lightbox (Tadeo Jones 2).
Her education enlists the Master in Film Directing by New York University (NYU), the Master in 3D Animation by Pompeu Fabra University (Barcelona) and the Audiovisual Communication undergrad (Santiago de Compostela) where she graduated with Honors.
Folk musician since childhood, gamer and passionate about drawing, Noelia speaks four languages and has lived and worked in five countries. This experience only increased her longing for her homeland and the desire to tell the stories of that place where she comes from, Galicia.
