my work is influenced by the solidarity of my childhood and inspired by my travels to the country of Vietnam, where i was born. i lived in small, quiet places by the water for most of my time in vietnam. by effect, i’ve retained a fascination for unkept, overgrown environments that are both rural and peaceful. obsessed with the serene, i create quiet atmospheric works using shapes, contrast, and composition to create compelling stories. some of my favorite subjects include nature and the everyday; post-apocalyptic-like interior environments hosting simplistic characters doing mundane tasks. i strive to make art that evokes feelings in the viewer, creating illustrations that have an underlying story behind them, or that depict only a moment into a character’s life.
