Biography
I am originally from Cupertino, California, where I grew up reading fantasy chapter books, manga and comics, and drawing every day. I am now residing in Valencia, Los Angeles as a CalArts Character Animation student. I love cinematic storyboarding, and am drawn to telling nuanced stories about cute characters going through interpersonal relationships, drama, friendships, and ironic comedy.
I’ve taught children age 4 to 17 art fundamentals extensively, as well as directed an animated short made by children. My experience with children has helped me become an effective leader as well as understand the stories children love to see and tell. Having enjoyed many years in Chinese dance and playing the violin, movement and expressive characters play a huge role in my storyboards.
Every semester at CalArts, I enroll in Screenwriting for Animators, which taught me to read and write scripts extensively. I have also directed and produced two student animated short films, and am currently working on my third, so I am very well-versed in the animation pipeline. My emphasis on storyboarding allows me to give and receive notes on story and visual storytelling with ease.
Diversity is important to me—As an Asian American daughter of immigrant parents, I would love to explore those experiences through any future projects I am a part of.
I am actively looking for storyboarding internships and jobs, and I can't wait to start my first job as a storyboard artist in the animation industry!
