Michelle Gruppetta is a Maltese story artist based in Copenhagen. She graduated from The Animation workshop in January 2021 with a BA in Character Animation and has been working as a previz and storyboard artist ever since. She has worked mostly on tv series, the latest projects being "Karla's Fantalastiske Klasse" with Hydralab, and "Lego City: No Limits" Blue Zoo. Michelle's experience with both boarding and previz has really given her the best tools from both worlds, to play with narrative from a cinematographic perspective and to visually drive home the emotional core of the story. Michelle's time on previous projects has pushed her every single episode to think and approach the visual language differently depending on what was needed, thanks to the wide tonal range of the shows. This has prepared her for many other requirements and future challenges and would like to continue pushing herself further and pursuing jobs she feels passionate about. She has storyboarded for a wide variety of projects: short films, TV series pitches and even operas, and even doing whole episodes from scratch, taking it from beats to boards as well as timing it in an animatic. She has also directed two short films (Season Rivalry and All Up in Your Business) and is currently working on her next one. Before Michelle's time at TAW, she was writing and drawing short form Queer comics which have been published in international anthologies and have gone on to be nominated and win various awards (for example: Wayward Sisters -IGNATZ award nominee; Joe Shuster Gene Day 2019 award winner or Dates 2 and 3 Anthologies PRISM Award).
