Being the young artist of the family, but mum always likes to share the story of how she always wanted a kid that could draw, so that she could proudly hang their work. With my first brother, all he did was use the crayons like rocket ships, and my other brother would draw a bit, and then be done. Then I came around, and apparently drew so much that my mum had to throw a good chunk of it out, due to just not having the space. So it was no secret that I was the artist kid growing up, using it as a means to express myself, and create worlds from my own mind. Cartoons were my main draw, as I was always fascinated by the sheer idea that art could be used in such a way, making these characters and stories come to life for the world to see. Though admittedly, it took me a long while to realise that I could be the same and didn't think that I could turn my art skill into a proper job down the line, and make my own stories come to life for the world to see. During high school, I joined spaces like Deviantart and Tumblr to share my work, meeting people who enjoyed the same things I did. This became a safe space for me, as I began to develop depression, anxiety, along with finally learning that I had dyslexia. I found that creating worlds and characters was a way for me to cope, and figuring emotions and thoughts in a more healthy way. Along with seeing it as a way to help others, using stories and my art to showcase views, ideas or even advice those like me need to hear and see. It makes me want to strive to keep making things, even dreaming of making my show animated show or comic to give people like me a safe space, something to look to and see that they are not alone. And despite all my struggles, even times of wanting to give up all together, I pushed myself through my art, having been self-taught almost all my life, and eventually having the confidence to enter NMIT, studying art and CGI to keep moving forward down this path that art has lead me to. And it's been wonderful meeting people like me, both in real life and in the online world, who all show just what art is meant to be about. It's not just one set of rules or form to follow, it's all about the differences that people can craft, and show to others. And I want to show what I can do.
