Biography
My name is Marcos de Lima, I'm 30 years old, and I live in Recife, Brazil. I've always loved drawing, since I was a little boy. I grew up surrounded by comics and cartoons, but I also loved reading the news and sometimes I went to my father's work, a news channel. There, I fell in love with journalism. But as grew up, I felt I could have more job opportunities within the design area, so I started studying it at the Federal University of Pernambuco. I graduated and moved to São Paulo, a bigger city in Brazil, where I had the opportunity to work in the biggests publishing companies of the country, Editora Abril. For about three years I worked in a magazine called Mundo Estranho, known for its illustrations and infographics regarding curiosities of science, histories and pop culture. In parallel, I started studying drawing from the basics: anatomy, composition, colors, etc... For about three years I had classes at Quanta Academia, and from the basics I went through comics, painting, advanced studies, perspective... By 2020 I started in a new company, UOL, probably the eldest news portal in Brazil, and started exploring the possibilities of digital editorial design, illustrating stories in a wide range, from politics to science, health and culture. In the last year I felt the need to start thinking about a change in my career, started taking online classes of animation and character design at ICS, in São Paulo, but I still don't feel confident enough to work in the entertainment area. Still figuring out what to showcase in this new area, but really excited to start.
