Biography

Mahreen Fatima is a Senior Environment Artist with years of experience working in the games industry. After graduating from SCAD where she studied Game Development, she moved to Seattle to pursue her dream of living in a place that looked like a page from National Geographic. There, she had the opportunity to work at Amazon and Oculus as a 3D Artist on various R&D projects where she had the opportunity to create photorealistic assets and work with scan data. She then went on to start her career in the game industry as a World Artist at 343 Industries on Halo Infinite, focusing on world art for organic and natural spaces for the campaign. Throughout her career in games, Mahreen has focused on level art and worldbuilding and appreciates any opportunity to tell a story with environments. She is now working at Blizzard on Diablo IV as a Senior Environment Artist II where she continues to focus on level art and foliage while working on personal projects to expand her skills and artistic eye.   In recent years, Mahreen starting teaching and providing mentorships through platforms such as Code Coven, CGMA, Think Tank, Skilltree, BeyondExtent and presented at GDC 2024 on "Diablo IV: The Art of Open World Sanctuary".

Diablo IV

- Primarily contributed to worldbuilding and level art for Diablo IV and Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred which includes large scale POIs and organic environments throughout production from blockout to polish quality
- Focused on creating deep storytelling, clear gameplay readability, and strong thematic environment art direction for isometric gameplay through level art
- Developed complex spaces in feature teams while collaborating with and upholding the standards of Art Direction, Design, Lighting, VFX, and more

- Contributed to worldbuilding of Halo Infinite’s Campaign which includes large scale organic environments throughout production from pre-alpha to ship quality- - Owned macro through micro worldbuilding for a large part of the campaign level including a full biome which was developed alongside Environment Palette Artists, Texture Artists, and Technical Artists
- Created blockout assets for establishing silhouette and collision- Developed complex spaces with multiple teams including Design, FX, Lighting, and Sound
