Background

Former Music A Level student at CLIP - Oporto International School, graduated with Magna cum laude ("with great honor"). I began playing piano at age six. After completing Trinity's piano Grade 7, I decided to build a Portuguese classical and jazz music portfolio. During my studies I explored various styles, from the heavily ornamented baroque to the psychedelic shoegaze, and continue to do so in University.

Influences

The works of Portuguese composer Ivo Cruz (Canto de Luar) and Luiz Costa (Campanários), alongside Debussy (The Sunken Cathedral), inspired my exploration of impressionistic aesthetics. It wasn't until I discovered Ryuichi Sakamoto, Yann Tiersen, Kensuke Ushio, and Christopher Bear, pioneering composers in modern music for movies, TV shows and other media, that I realised I wanted to paint landscapes through sound and explore how my own compositions can shape an emotional narrative.

Experiences

In year twelve I formed a Jazz Duo Band to refine my improvisation and collaboration skills. I participated in a broad range of performances, from school events to Casa Da Musica's Piano Marathon, including a Solidarity Concert that raised funds for Charitable institutions.
My interest in film scoring emerged during a Summer Short Film Course at Católica Oporto University and when I composed a score for a friend's short film. Working with the filmmaker tested my ability to match her vision, and seeing my work at Cinema Batalha was a proud experience that cemented my joy in scoring visual media.

Other Interests!

Recently co-founded Mutants.live, an online radio to try out new ways of expressing myself through music and my drawings. Fuelled by my love for physical and digital art, I recently led the creation of two lead the creation of two ocean literacy murals, and contributed a drawing frame featured in the music video AMAMA of one my favourite band's Crumb. Under my alter ego tsandtoes I experiment with creative expression, dabbling in all sorts of mediums, sometimes posting my work online.
