Rose Johnson is an Irish-African-American, genderqueer artist. Born and raised in New Jersey, Johnson works with various disciplines including video games and character animation to this end. Their artistic voice leans into a strong character-focused bent, and many of their projects emphasize emotive and personal stories taking place in settings that are informed by historical or current cultures and injustices. Their work often centers around themes of defiance, community, and unlikely beauty. They also tend to design characters and create projects addressing emotional or mental health needs they notice in the world around them. They work in a variety of media from 2D and 3D animation to illustration and game design, and they have also run multiple webcomics over the years. They graduated from Stetson University, in DeLand, Florida in May 2022
