My name is Karen Maria Eiken Engelgård, and currently I’m working as an Architect in Norway. As a lot of kids, I loved to draw and the passion to drawing and creating only grew with time, and I would spend hours at the school workshops drawing or carving figures. At sixteen started in a school that focused on drawing and scenography, my teachers push for me to look at architecture, however deep down I always loved creating characters. At that point there was no school in Norway that offered character design as a class, except a private school that I could never afford. So, I figured I would pursue architecture in the hopes that I would at least be able to create stuff. I was not disappointed the Oslo School of architecture and design taught me a lot, and totally by chance at my last term I ended up in a small course that thought parametric design. This I really where it all started. My teachers thought me 3D, 3D printing but not least of all the thought me how to bring my projects into the world of 3d through VR. I was completely captivated with all the possibilities. I finished my masters being able to show my project in a 3d printed format as well as VR. When I started working, I continued to explore the world of 3D and was lucky enough to have coworkers that believed in me and let me do architectural visualizations, but also the visual storytelling. The story of the concept of the building, letting me expand my drawing abilities. I got adapt at creating stories for our concepts both in 2D and 3D, but it was not enough for me I wanted to learn more, needed to learn more. Which is why I found myself filling out a form for applying to Think Tank learning center online, one year in and I’ve learned more than I could possible imagen and now I’m looking to embrace a new profession in an environment of amazing people that share my passion for storytelling and 3d modelling.
