I‘m a LMU screenwriting grad who‘s been writing, editing, taking pictures, working on a farm, bartending, and helping on sets since graduating during the pandemic. I‘m working so I can make stuff.
Biography
I grew up moving around. My dad is a pastor who moved across the south, the west, and the northeast for school, to found different churches, and to visit family and conduct meetings. When I was ten years old we moved to Peru. Because of all of the traveling and moving, (especially to Peru) I was unable to fully attach myself wo one culture, and had to try and create my own culture separate from my parent‘s and the places I grew up.
The one thing I had as a constant though was stories. Be it VHS‘s of old movies, sermons from my dad and his colleagues, comic books or stories from people I met in passing, stories and family were the two constants I held onto throughout my life. I became obsessed with movies in particular.
Because of this obsession I decided to go into storytelling. I went to community college in Austin, Texas for two years and got a degree in journalism, then transferred to LMU‘s screenwriting program. I worked at LMU‘s sound department and did production sound for student films while interning at production and management companies. After the pandemic happened, I moved back home with my parents, worked on a farm for 8 months, and continued to write after graduating. I moved back to LA in the summer of 2021 and have been working on sets, a movie theater, and bartending to pay my bills.
I hope I can write stories that will move people, and that can capture my interests and anxieties that I‘ve acquired from moving around so much. And I hope I can collaborate with friends and interesting people while doing so.
