Joby Harris is a Visual Strategist at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California where he supports scientists and engineers with artwork and design in all phases of a project or mission. This could include design strategy in early mission proposals, data visualizations, mission branding, education products and public outreach experiences.  As an illustrator, he created many of the retro/ futuristic style NASA Travel posters within the Visions of the Future poster series first released in 2015.  

He began his art and design career in 1996 at Walt Disney Imagineering working as a model maker and sculptor on the Tokyo Disney Sea theme park in Tokyo, Japan. He later transitioned to TV and film doing props, models and concept designs for shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly, Alias, Star Trek Enterprise, and the films Solaris, Constantine and Cat in the Hat. 

He worked his way up the art department ladder and eventually became a Production Designer overseeing the look and design of numerous productions. In 2010 he made the transition to Director creating an award winning commercial for Doritos, as well as numerous music videos and short films.

In 2012 he joined NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory and has been there for the past 13 years.
