A 20 plus year veteran in the animation industry, Joaquim started his career as a storyboard artist on Sony Televisions “Roughnecks: Starship troopers chronicles” and “Men in Black: the animated series” before moving on to storyboard, direct and produce on a variety of hit animated television shows such as Warner Bros.’ “Justice League Unlimited” and “Teen Titans.” As well as Nickelodeon’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender”, “The Legend of Korra” and DreamWorks Animation’s “Voltron: Legendary Defender”. He then went on to direct his first feature film, Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse for Sony pictures animation and has since bin in development on a yet to be announced project at Netflix.  

Born in Lisbon, Portugal, he moved to the states when he was four years old where a steady diet of Films, comics, video games and animation fueled his imagination and desire to create. He spent his summers back in Portugal, swimming in the ocean and exploring in the quiet, seaside town of Sesimbra, which he also credits as a massive influence on him as an artist. He currently resides in Los Angeles, California with his wife Sharon, His son Lucas and their two dogs Otis and Murray.
