Biography

I first began my career in musical performance through the performing arts. At the age of ten, I performed at the 5th Avenue Theatre, Seattle's premier regional musical theater, and have continued my thespian journey ever since. Participating in both my high school's drama department's award-winning musicals and its equally esteemed choral program, I prospered in an environment of both musicians and performers alike. Even closer to my heart, though, was my high school's top-tier Barbershop a cappella ensemble. We performed countless gigs at local restaurants, theaters, senior centers, etc. and put on our annual Pops Concert to sold-out crowds. In 2018 in particular, our men's Barbershop won first place in Washington State's Solo/Ensemble competition (in fact, we remain the reigning champs!). More recently, as the leader of last year's group, I was tasked with arranging and mixing a cut of the Star Spangled Banner in my Audio Software for a Veteran's Day Presentation. Last year, I also took AP Music Theory. My interest in music and visual technology started coming into focus in the summer courses I took through DigiPen Institute of Technology. I started in 2017 with a two-week Art and Animation course, and I’ve been working in programs like Blender and Procreate since. In the Summer of 2018 in "Sound Recording and Performance", I familiarized myself with the Digital Audio Workstation as well as the practical application of audio. We worked on several projects, most notably a dubbing and scoring of an audio drama script. I then took "Scoring for Film and Games Masterclass" a year later where I applied my previously learned skills to compose short segments of videos. One of my pieces, "Wait For the Hook," was performed by a select few members of the Seattle Symphony. As my passion for music technology deepened, I was fortunate enough to take a four week course taught by a huge inspiration of mine: Andrew Huang. This class covered more mixing and mastering techniques in Digital Audio Workstations and more recreational compositions. I got to apply my skills out in the field through an internship at Seattle-based Foundry 10 with some of my closest peers, where we were tasked with creating a video game over the summer. I was personally responsible for the sound, music, and artwork of the game. Last year I also got to take a summer intensive through NYU and their Summer Electronic Music Institute program. I got to collaborate several times with my peers from across the US, all in the pursuit of making music. As a current Music and Technology student at Stevens Institute of Technology, I am pursuing an education in the music and audio production world. I’ve had the pleasure of taking an electronic music course, a music theory course, and multiple instrumental lessons.
