Growing up in Manila, Giovanni Nakpil was deeply inspired by the magic of science fiction and horror films. After studying Computer Graphics in Toronto, his multidisciplinary career took him across North America—from Maryland and Texas to California and Washington. As a digital model supervisor at Industrial Light & Magic, Giovanni contributed to the creation of key creatures in blockbuster films such as Star Trek and The Avengers. He later transitioned into the gaming industry at the Valve Corporation and the tech industry at Meta where he helped push the creation of VR with Oculus.
Today, Giovanni works at Adobe as a Senior Creative 3D Evangelist and Community Advocate, where he connects with artists around the world and lives his dream of creating with cutting-edge digital tools.
