Born to an American mother and a Indian father I was continually fascinated by cross cultural stories that lay deep seated within people, their lives and their relationships. As I grew older, I pursued this further with a career as an investigative journalist. However, I was made acutely aware, that although fiction needs to make sense, reality does not. It was the pursuit of understanding the reality around us, and contextualising it into fiction, that led me to write stories for children. My creative inspiration stems from a unique perspective on everyday life and people each of which possess an embedded tale waiting to be told, diamonds in the rough. My creative sensibility is a fine balance between the subjective experience of the study and the context of the narrative and seeing the world from the view point of a child.
