Emma Goudie is a multidisciplinary animator who works and lives in the Greater Toronto area. Her work explores the dissonance between intersecting identities, mutable bodies, and culture as a commodity. While she enjoys producing both 2D drawing and puppet animations, Emma’s media of choice is passionately stop motion. The use of various found and/or hand-made materials to create one harmonious film makes the medium synonymous with hybridity. Stop motion’s mixed media production lends well towards feelings like - metamorphosis, the uncanny, and an “eerie stage-presence”. These features are how Emma best uses her medium to perform the underlying themes and emotions in her narratives. ​ Emma received her BFA and a specialization in Animation from OCAD University in 2021, graduating with Distinction. Since then, she has continued to show work in festivals and worked as the lead animator on a short film production.
