Biography
Daniel Nikoi Djanie, also known as Gilmec, is an illustrator, visual storyteller, and creative consultant with more than 18 years of experience across games, comics, children’s books, and advertising. His career has taken him from early comic work in Germany to roles as Animation Director and Senior Game Artist in Shanghai, and later to leading creative projects in Berlin. Along the way, he has collaborated with multiple international studios and publishers, shaping character design, story art, and visual development for a wide range of audiences.
Since 2021, Daniel has been a trusted creative partner of THU, contributing to visual development for the Career Camp and directing the story and art for the 2024 opening film Everlasting. In parallel, he continues to develop new children’s book projects with Carlsen and other publishers, while consulting as an Art Director to support creative teams and independent productions.
Currently on a creative hiatus, Daniel is expanding his focus beyond pure production, exploring how art, philosophy, and consciousness research can intersect. His ongoing projects include multiple illustration and storytelling ventures, as well as the early development of Consciousness Intern—a new initiative that teases at bridging imagination with deeper questions about AI, mind, and reality.
