Comic Art

I’m a web developer and designer, and most recently comic artist, with a passion for creating stories and developing characters and worlds. I’ve been teaching myself art for the last three years.

Biography

Hello! I have been working as a web developer for the last decade and a half, but in the last three years I have taught myself how to illustrate, write stories and create worlds. Creating stories and images has always been a passion of mine, and I’d like to know if a career in concept art is feasible for me. I have been making small comics, and have had my work printed in four publications, and am now working on an interactive web comic, where I did a lot of world and character building. The first few panels are almost ready for launch - a few previews are available on my Instagram, but I’m not revealing to much yet because I want people to be curious about it. As a web developer and having also been a tech lead, I feel that I can bring a lot to a studio in terms of pragmatism, organisation, and also in terms of creating one or other tool to speed up your workflows. I have just started, but you can check out one of the tools that I created on my website, under resources - a gamut masking tool. I am part of Distant Connections, a group of artists that make comics about lockdown, and besides having my own comics published with the collective, I design and maintain the website. I have also recently started running a monthly meet-up about creating comics (WIP creating comics), which includes technical drawing and story building workshops (focused on comic making, of course!!). One of my presentations, an introduction to perspective, is available on my website, but I’m adding more as I find the time. I’d really love this chance to meet up other aspiring artists and studios and learn what I can make of my life in the future!
