I am currently a first year student in Digital Animation at The Animation School in Cape Town, South Africa. My ultimate goal is to work as a 3D/2D character and environment artist one day. I am motivated to strive to continually expand my multimedia skills and knowledge in both 2D and 3D animation. Animation is important as it allows us to tell stories and communicate emotions and artistic ideas through a unique and creative way that individuals of all ages can understand. Since starting my studies at The Animation School I find myself going above and beyond the prescribed school work in an effort to be the best animation artist I can be. This is reflected in my marks for the first semester, as I have obtained no term mark below 83%. I consider animation to be challenging, but interesting. The animation industry requires plenty of hard work and dedication. I have finally found a career path in which I am excited to learn new things every day and want to improve as both a person and a professional. I always want to strive to learn new things and improve on my skillset. I feel as though I have found a career in which I fit in, and the idea of working with people who have similar interests and goals to me pushes me to work even harder. The reason for my letter is to find out whether or not you could put me in contact with or point me in the right direction towards studios abroad, more specifically in San Diego, California, who would be willing to offer me an unpaid internship or job shadowing opportunity. I will be traveling to San Diego towards the end of November 2021, and was hoping that I could use my time there to gain international experience, and have the invaluable opportunity to network with individuals in the industry.
