Hi! My name is Barbara Szymiczek. I am a creative person who enjoys drawing characters and telling stories. Following graduation from high school in Poland, I decided that I wanted to pursue an animation degree, as my two passions can be combined within this discipline. After I graduated from high school in Poland, I decided to move to the UK to study and to expand my horizons. In September 2018, I enrolled at Glasgow Caledonian University. I studied on the Computer Game Art and Animation course where I got to learn the fundamentals of the video game production pipeline and worked in a cross-disciplinary team to create a simple 2D game. In spring of 2019 I transferred to the University of Dundee and enrolled on the Animation course. I have been studying there ever since. Despite the COVID outbreak disrupting most of my studies, I still managed to complete team and individual projects, gain a lot of valuable experience and animation knowledge and meet many wonderful people. I am lucky enough that last year the student film idea I pitched got selected, and I am currently directing a 3D animated graduation film called Knitman. Together with a team of talented students, I have been working on it for the past 11 months. Other than Knitman I am also working on my professional portfolio consisting of character design and 3D character modeling as well as a 3D character animation show-reel. After graduating in June, I hope to enter the industry and keep expanding my horizons.
